Alabama State University is a 4-year public institution founded in 1867. ASU offers Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctor's degrees and Post Baccalaureate and Post-master's certificates. The student population is 4,072 (3,614 undergraduates). The student to faculty ratio is 15 to 1. ASU is NCAA Division I (SWAC Conference) participating in men's basketball, football (FCS), baseball, cross country, golf, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and women's softball, basketball, bowling, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor and outdoor track, and volleyball.

Scholarship applications are open October 1 - February 1.

Special Requirements:

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative 3.76 GPA, completed at least 24 semester hours (36 quarter hours), and transfer from an accredited college. Academic Scholarship awards are finalized when all requirements are fulfilled for acceptance including a signed acceptance by the University Administrator and the student is on file.

Renewal Requirements:

Renewable for up to 6 semesters. Students must maintain full-time enrollment with a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours per semester, and maintain a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. Progress and continued eligibility is reviewed annually at the end of each spring semester.
