Clark Atlanta University, located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, is a unique institution with a history that began in 1988 through the consolidation of two historic institutions: Clark College (founded in 1869) and Atlanta University (founded in 1865). This merger created a new entity that combined the strengths and traditions of both schools, making Clark Atlanta University one of the largest historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the nation.
